Jean Lafitte Pirogue Races

The Jean Lafitte Pirogue Races are back this year! First held in 1934, the Pirogue Races on Bayou Barataria are an important part of Jean Lafitte’s heritage. We are happy to announce there return this summer. Festivities include live music, local food, arts and crafts, boat making and of course the world championship pirogue races. This event is free of charge.

11:15 a.m. – Men’s over 50
11:30 a.m. – Decoy Pick up
12:00 p.m. – Women’s Over 50
12:15 p.m. – 2 Person Canoe
12:40 p.m. – Kayak
1:00 p.m. – Women’s Work Boat
1:30 p.m. – Men’s Work Boat
2:00 p.m. – Intermission
3:00 p.m. – Blind Fold Race
3:30 p.m. – Women’s Championship
4:00 p.m. – Men’s Championship

MUSIC:
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – DJ Louie Hatty
12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Them Ol’ Ghosts
2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. – Junior and Sumtin’ Sneaky
